Researchers at Harvard University conducted a study in which they monitored the weight and habits of 120,877 adults over a 20-year period. The study revealed that potato-based foods caused more weight gain than any other food category, with potato chips the main offender. Consumption of other vegetables was associated with weight loss.

I think it is no potatoe but the form it is consumed in that is making people fat. New potatoes are one thing, but when people eat chips (those can’t be called potatoes, since they contain close to no potatoes) and french fries ( which are more fat than potatoe) …

Good point. I agree that potato chips are much worse than new potatoes. Even new potatoes, however, are much higher in calories and lower in other nutrients than most other vegetables, for example, tomatoes or spinach. It’s good to eat a variety, but generally more vegetables other than potatoes. Most of us probably already eat enough potatoes.
